Waterproof busbar trunking The manufacturer would like to share some knowledge about busbar trunking systems with everyone.
Waterproof busbar trunking Manufacturer: What is a busbar trunking system?
Simply put, a busbar trunking system is a long metal enclosure designed to house cables, equipped with a cover to protect the distribution cables (the cables supplying the main power source are not necessarily copper bars—copper bars must not be covered). Since busbars often extend over considerable lengths, many of these metal enclosures are actually connected end-to-end. The joints between adjacent sections of the enclosure are typically joined by flexible conductors (usually soft copper strips), and proper grounding is ensured at the ends to prevent electric leakage from causing harm to humans. In technical terms, a busbar trunking system is a safe and reliable transmission device that meets the demands of modern high-rise buildings and large-scale workshops for transmitting enormous amounts of electrical power and handling currents as high as hundreds of thousands of amperes.
Busbar trunking systems feature a comprehensive range of accessories, minimal consumable materials, compact size, large capacity, short design and construction periods, easy disassembly and assembly, flame-retardant performance, high safety and reliability, and a long service life.
Busbars are products made from copper and aluminum materials with high electrical conductivity, used for transmitting electric power. They serve the functions of concentrating and distributing electricity. Through busbars, the electrical power output by generators, transformers, or rectifiers is reliably delivered to each user or other substations.
A busbar refers to the connections within a substation that link distribution devices at various voltage levels, as well as the connections between electrical equipment such as transformers and their corresponding distribution devices. Most busbars are made of bare conductors or stranded wires with rectangular or circular cross-sections and are collectively referred to as busbars.
The function of a busbar is to collect, distribute, and transmit electrical energy. In a power system, the busbar connects all current-carrying branches in the switchgear, serving the role of gathering, distributing, and transmitting electrical energy.
Waterproof busbar trunking Manufacturer: Different Types and Features of Busbar Trays
There are three types of busbar trunking systems: air-insulated busbars, tightly insulated busbars, and highly sealed busbar trunking systems. Below are the three types of busbar slots. The air-insulated busbar is inserted into the busbar slot. Because the copper busbar transition uses flexible connectors, in the humid climate of southern China, these connections tend to oxidize easily, leading to poor contact and the formation of arcing between the busbar and busbar strips, which can cause overheating at the contacts. For this reason, air-insulated busbars are rarely used in southern China.
The densely packed insulated connectors inserted into the busbar offer poor moisture resistance and heat dissipation. During moisture-proof construction, the busbar is prone to moisture ingress and leakage current, leading to a reduction in insulation resistance. For passenger vehicles, heat dissipation primarily relies on the enclosure; however, due to the close arrangement of conductors, thermal energy transfer between L2 and L3 is relatively slow, resulting in a higher temperature rise in the busbar.
The compact insulated plug uses a shell plate and can only be manufactured in sizes not exceeding 3 meters. Due to the narrow gaps between buses, when vehicles carry high currents, strong electromagnetic power is generated, causing the magnetic oscillation frequencies to overlap and resulting in excessive noise.
The high-intensity enclosed busbar features a design in which the busbar itself is not restricted in terms of its dimensions, and the enclosure is shaped like a groove. This design significantly enhances the mechanical strength of the busbar. Moreover, the busbar’s cross-section can extend up to 13 meters in length. Since the enclosure is made of ceramic tiles, grooves and recesses are deliberately incorporated to segment and position the busbars at precise intervals of 18 mm. This arrangement ensures excellent ventilation between the busbars, markedly improving the busbar trunking’s moisture resistance and heat dissipation capabilities.
Due to the presence of a certain gap between conductors, the temperature rise of the conductors is reduced, thereby enhancing the overload capacity and reducing magnetic oscillation noise. However, its stray current and inductance are significantly higher than those of a compact busbar trunking system; therefore, its conductive busbars must be larger than those of a compact insulated plug-in busbar system.
