Precautions for Installing Waterproof Busbar Trays

Cable trays must not be lifted or secured using bare steel wire ropes. Waterproof busbar trunking must not be placed randomly or dragged onto the ground. In a dry, clean warehouse free of corrosive substances, the outer packaging of flexible cable trays should be sandwiched between the upper and lower cedar boards of the waterproof busbar trunking, and the packaging should be removed.

1. Development Trends in the Installation of Waterproof Busbar Trays

The trunk line has its own branch lines and voice numbers, each of which is identified by a number upon installation.

2. Inspection Before Installing the Waterproof Busbar Tray

Check whether the cable tray enclosure is intact and undamaged, whether the busbar cable tray enclosure is loose, and whether the connections are reliable.

Check whether the plug-in interface of the bus slot is fully closed and locked; use a 500V megohmmeter to measure the resistance, ensuring that the measured value for each segment is no less than 20 mΩ.

3. Connection of waterproof busbar trunking

The busbar support must be installed together with the busbar. The waterproof busbar trunking should be correctly positioned according to its name, phase sequence, numbering, orientation, and installation markings. When the waterproof busbar trunking is connected to a section, it should correspond to the external wiring trunking of the waterproof busbar trunking. After connection, both the trunking and the enclosure shall be subjected to mechanical constraints.

Installation Steps: First, check whether the mating surfaces of the waterproof busbar connectors and their corresponding connectors have been damaged due to impact. After confirming that there is no damage, connect the two waterproof busbar connectors to the busbar, insert the waterproof busbar into the connector, ensure it is properly seated, and tighten it using the specified torque. Next, join the two interconnected busbars by connecting their respective busbar ends. Then, insert copper wires and insulating partitions into the phase-neutral connections (the end of each phase serves as the phase-neutral connection). The insulating partition should be clamped between the copper connectors. Once you’ve confirmed that there are no gaps or misalignments, screw in the bird’s nest fastener. Pay attention to ensuring that the copper connectors, busbar ends, and insulating partition connection holes are securely fastened, and that the copper connectors and insulating diaphragms are properly adhered and locked in place.

Sponge capacitors (M10 capacitor: 17.7–22.6 nm; M12 wave capacitor: 31.4–39.2 nm; M14 capacitor: 51.0–60.8 nm; M16 capacitor: 78.5–98.1 nm). Use a 0.1 mm feeler gauge for inspection. A penetration depth of less than 10 mm is considered acceptable. Tighten the screws on the left and right side plates as well as the top and bottom cover plates.

After the waterproof busbar trunking is fully connected, use a multimeter to check the grounding resistance within the 1-ohm range. The resistance value should be less than 0.1 ohms to ensure compliance with grounding requirements.

4. Install the busbar trunking system horizontally.

When setting the horizontal line for wire and busbar trunking waterproofing, the height above the ground should be increased to 2.2 meters; however, this installation must be located in a dedicated electrical room (such as a power transmission room, motor room, vertical shaft, or technical floor).

The busbar trunking system shall be installed horizontally. When the horizontal busbar trunking system is mounted on supports or hangers, the clamping plates shall be fixed horizontally. The connection points of the busbar trunking system must not be tied through walls. When installing the trunking system through wall openings, care must be taken to prevent sewage and debris from entering the wiring.

The cable ducts for inserting wires into the cable entry holes (forks) should be located in safe, reliable, and easily maintainable areas.

When the length of the slot winding exceeds 60 m, an expansion slot section, a busbar extension slot, and a field joint (expansion joint) should be provided at this location.

5. Longitudinal installation of waterproof busbar trunking

When cable trays are installed vertically, the vertical distance between connectors should be less than 0.6 m.

When a busbar trunking system is installed vertically between two rooms, the straight length of any single section of the trunking system must not exceed 3.6 meters. If a single layer exceeds 3.6 meters, the trunking system should be fabricated in sections, and intermediate fixed supports should be installed between layers.

Avoid connecting the waterproof busbar trunking via the floor. When the busbar trunking passes through slab openings, sewage and debris can enter the busbar.
