What are the characteristics of high-voltage waterproof busbar trunking systems?
Jan 10,2022
The high-voltage waterproof busbar trunking features a clamping structure with high-strength, high-performance DMC insulating support blocks, offering excellent load-carrying capacity and dynamic thermal stability. It boasts strong overload capability and low temperature rise. The high-voltage waterproof busbar trunking comes in a sealed enclosure, significantly reducing the specific requirements and installation complexity of such systems. When carrying large currents, it can substantially decrease the frequency of electrical maintenance.
The high-voltage waterproof busbar trunking system is easy to install and allows for flexible adjustment in both horizontal and vertical directions. It not only meets the expansion and contraction requirements caused by varying temperature drops, thermal expansion, and cold contraction but also compensates for errors induced by foundation settlement. In contrast, traditional slide-type expansion devices have low protection ratings, are cumbersome to install, and operate unreliably.
The purpose of high-voltage aluminum busbar trunking systems is to provide electrical connections between transformers and high-voltage switchgear, as well as between generators and step-up transformers in large industrial and mining facilities and major substations. Large enterprises often have power plant transformers. Generally speaking, waterproof busbar trunking systems operating at voltages above 3,000V are referred to as high-voltage waterproof busbar trunking systems. The insulation resistance between phases in high-voltage waterproof busbar trunking systems is greater than 1,000 mΩ. These systems feature a high degree of protection; outdoor-rated systems typically achieve an IP54 rating. High-voltage waterproof busbar trunking systems should be connected to power plants and large-scale transformers.
Maintenance methods for compact waterproof busbar trunking:
During the long-term operation of a waterproof busbar trunking system, it should be regularly inspected and maintained at least once a year. The total load current during inspection must not exceed the design current and rated current of the main busbar.
Before performing maintenance on a waterproof busbar trunking system, verify that the system is completely de-energized! Fully disconnect all power sources to the busbar trunking system! Use a multimeter to check whether the conductors carry any voltage, and confirm that the busbar system is free of electricity before carrying out routine maintenance. This will help prevent serious accidents caused by high voltage, which could result in injury or even death to operators! During operation of the waterproof busbar trunking system, inspect the entire system area for leaks, water splashes, and potential sources of moisture. Also, check whether there are heavy objects posing a threat to the system or heat sources that could affect the temperature rise of the busbar trunking system. Ensure no foreign objects have entered the waterproof busbar trunking system. Examine the components of the waterproof busbar trunking system for defects and corrosion, and verify that the support springs maintain proper elasticity. If you identify any issues, replace the affected parts immediately.
During prolonged operation of passenger vehicles, the temperature rise at connections shall be regularly inspected annually. The temperature rise at connections must meet the requirements of GB 7251 standard and shall not exceed 70℃ (ambient temperature: 40℃). Inspect all busbar connection bolts and wire contact points to ensure they are securely tightened.
Prevent overheating caused by increased resistance due to loose connections. Check whether the insulation material has aged and whether the conductive parts have melted or deformed. If there is phase-to-ground shorting or insulation breakdown, disassemble the system in sections, perform section-by-section testing with a high-voltage withstand tester to identify the fault, or replace the waterproof busbar trunking or reapply the insulation coating.
Check whether the pins of the busbar trunking system’s junction boxes are in good contact with the busbars. Regularly remove dust from the surface of the busbar trunking system to ensure proper heat dissipation. After maintenance of the busbar trunking system, verify the insulation resistance and keep a detailed maintenance record before re-energizing the system.
