The development history of waterproof busbar trunking.

Waterproof busbar trunking It is a new circuit design developed in the United States, known as the “waterproof busbar system.” This system uses copper or aluminum as conductors, supported by a non-olefin insulation layer, and then installed in metal channels to form a new type of conductor. Currently, it has become an essential wiring method for high-rise buildings, factory electrical equipment, and power systems. However, when a building’s distribution system is not easily accessible, the distribution system becomes difficult to use. Moreover, this system can also enhance the aesthetic appeal of buildings.

Modern high-rise buildings and large-scale workshops require substantial amounts of electricity. Faced with such enormous loads, selecting safe and reliable conductive equipment capable of handling currents in the hundreds of thousands of amperes makes busbar systems an excellent choice. Waterproof busbar trunking systems are highly efficient power distribution devices that are particularly well-suited to the increasingly tall buildings and large factories, meeting their wiring requirements in a cost-effective and rational manner.

There is a certain amount of air insulation between the phase conductors. Various bends employ vulcanized insulation technology. The straight sections are fitted with MT-7-3 rubber sleeves. The vulcanized insulation technology uses CZ260 fast-curing insulating powder, which undergoes quadruple crosslinking for curing, ensuring a seamless bond between the insulation layer and the conductive busbar. This material boasts excellent heat dissipation performance, moisture resistance, and insulation reliability. However, due to its higher cost compared to second-generation busbars, it has not been widely adopted.

Other relevant information:

Busbar welding: L-shaped (horizontal bend) and T-shaped busbars are joined by busbar welding; however, there are no relevant standards specified in the national standards. It is reported that weld inspection should be considered (in accordance with GB 3323 level standards).

The existing high-protection rating reaches IP66 or higher, effectively addressing the issue of waterproofing. Shanghai Waigaoqiao has adopted domestically produced IP68-rated air ducts specifically designed for outdoor buses. Compared to cables, its advantages and disadvantages boil down to the difference between mains power and radiated power sources.

Structural features of waterproof busbar trunking:

1. Suitable for large-span installation

The waterproof busbar trunking enclosure is formed by roll forming, featuring a compact size and an aesthetically pleasing appearance, which significantly enhances its long-term load-bearing capacity. A busbar trunking with a span of 6 meters can withstand a load of 60 kilograms, with a deflection not exceeding 10 millimeters.

2. Easy to install

Featuring automatic compensation and single-bolt clamp terminal connections, this design offers excellent adjustability, making the installation of waterproof busbar trunking systems exceptionally convenient and flexible, thereby significantly reducing installation time.

3. Extremely safe and reliable

(1) It features independent air insulation, and the safety clearance and creepage distance between phases are significantly greater than the standard requirements.

(2) High-strength engineering plastics are used to enhance the dynamic resistance and thermal stability of waterproof busbar trunking systems.

(3) The special structure of the connector prevents accidental misoperation during installation.

(4) The socket is equipped with a safety protection plate. The insertion frame can only be inserted when the protective cover is open. When the socket is not in use, the protective flap can be closed and sealed with lead to prevent dust or foreign objects from entering the socket and to protect the power input terminals from being struck by the electricity meter. This enhances the protective performance of the waterproof busbar trunking system, prevents accidental operations, and significantly improves the overall safety of the busbar system.
