Introduction to Waterproof Busbar Trays
Nov 03,2021
Waterproof busbar trunking It is one of the commonly used electrical components in modern building power distribution systems. Its advantages include a large current-carrying capacity, which enables it to better meet the high-power consumption requirements of high-rise buildings. Moreover, its maintenance is simpler than that of traditional cable-based transmission systems. Nowadays, with advances in technology, the safety of waterproof busbar trunking has been greatly enhanced; however, we still need to remain vigilant and prioritize safety throughout the installation and operation processes.

Be extra vigilant during the procurement process. Today, there are many manufacturers on the market producing waterproof busbar trunking systems, and their prices vary considerably. In fact, in this age of advanced internet connectivity, information flows rapidly, and no industry can sustain excessively high profits. For similar products with comparable quality, prices shouldn't differ too dramatically. Therefore, when requesting quotes, be sure not to opt for the lowest-priced options. It’s safe to say that low prices often indicate low quality and unprofessional practices. Safety is no small matter—so make sure you procure products carefully and responsibly.
Second, during the installation process, it’s essential to hire a professional installation team—ideally one provided by the manufacturer. After all, this is a technical job that’s not as simple as it might seem. If the installation isn’t done professionally, problems will frequently arise down the road, and it’ll be extremely difficult to pinpoint the root cause. It’s quite possible that you’ll save 100,000 yuan during installation—but end up spending an additional 1 million yuan later on.
Finally, during daily use, it’s important to conduct regular inspections so that minor issues can be detected and addressed early on. Before starting work, employees should receive thorough safety training and must strictly adhere to safety regulations. For example, some workers fail to pay attention when walking on waterproof busbar trunking—this is extremely dangerous. A voltage of 10 kV is no joke. If the insulating film on their shoes gets punctured while walking on the busbar trunking, or if the insulation treatment is inadequate, a current of several thousand amperes could instantly arc through the busbar trunking, fatally electrocuting anyone standing on it. Therefore, we should pay close attention to even these small details.
Compared to cables, waterproof busbar trunking systems have the advantage of a longer service life—typically ranging from 30 to 50 years. To maximize the service life of waterproof busbar trunking systems, it’s also essential to carefully consider the installation supports for the busbars. When installing busbar trunking horizontally, suspension brackets or gantry frames are commonly used; in shafts, spring-mounted brackets and angle-iron brackets are typically employed. When purchasing high-capacity buses, materials, springs, and load capacities must be thoroughly inspected, including the support hangers and crossbeams. Some unscrupulous manufacturers use fewer angle irons as support materials; after a period of use, this can cause the busbar trunking to sag and shift. If such issues aren’t promptly addressed, they could even lead to safety accidents.
Waterproof busbar trunking is widely used in current construction projects. As an important electrical component, waterproof busbar trunking requires careful attention during storage and installation. When storing, the busbar trunking should be placed in a dry location and kept away from moisture. If it needs to be stored on the ground, it must be supported by wooden boards and laid horizontally—never vertically. Before installation and energization, the protective film on the outer casing of the busbar trunking, which is applied at the factory, can be removed.
During installation, verify that the installed wiring matches the design and check for any obstructions, heat sources, or water leaks in the wiring. Before installation, test the insulation resistance of each busbar trunking unit and ensure that the connections are free of dirt, dust, or other foreign objects. When lifting and installing, place cardboard or wooden boards beneath the busbar trunking to prevent damage or deformation to its outer casing. When installing multiple rows of busbar trunking, maintain a spacing of more than 150 mm between them to ensure adequate heat dissipation.
